Can you install a stair lift on curved or spiral stairs?

At Custom Home Elevator, we've never met a set of stairs we couldn't put a lift on. Stair lifts can run on either side of the stairs. They can take an inside or outside curve and maneuver through landings - easily managing 90 and 180-degree turns.

Can you install a stair lift outside?

Yes. In fact, there are models specifically manufactured with outdoor conditions in mind. An outdoor unit is weatherized to protect against the elements and comes with a chair cover. To prevent unauthorized use by others, it is equipped with a keyed operation system.

How much weight can a stair chair hold?

It depends on the manufacturer of the lift, but a stair chair can accommodate up to 400 pounds.

What happens when the electricity goes out?

Many stair lifts provided by Custom Home Elevator operate on battery power when you've lost power to your home.

Is a stair lift the same as a stairglide?

Stair lifts are called many different names, including stairglide, stair chair, chair lift, battery-powered chair, stairway lift, stairway elevator, staircase chair and stair climber. They're also thought of as home medical equipment and durable medical equipment.

Is the cost of a stair lift covered by my medical insurance or Medicare?

Medicare does not cover the cost of a stair lift. Some private insurers do. Check your policy or talk with your agent to determine what applies in your situation.
